Well I tried a Windows 3.1 installation with DOSbox, it's listed as abandonware but I'm not too sure as to its legality. Anyway, what really ticked me off is that it would not let me exit DOSBox after I booted into 3.1. It just goes to show: Microsoft don't want you using anything other than their OS, and this just shows it.

I'm wrong. It seems that I only went to a DOS prompt rather than exiting. Still, it's pretty damn confusing...

I'm confused, it went to a DOS prompt after exiting Windows 3.1? If so that's what it's supposed to do. At the time DOS was the OS and Windows was just a graphical interface.

There are several good reasons as to why Win3.1 is abandonware.
