Can't read anything...

howdy!

on some programmes (e.g. wine) i can't read anything because the text is "black" - i attached a screenshot.
i installed ubuntu 8.10 yesterday (newbie), i already use newest graphic card drivers (nvidia). i read here that it might have something to do with qt?

I'm not sure, but can it have to do something with the correct font's not being installed?
I can be mistaken here...
