View Full Version : [ubuntu] [SOLVED] Monitor won't go to sleep or screensaver.

Ubuntu 8.04, ATI Radeon 9800.

I decided to try out the shiny 3D compiz cube, so I enabled compiz and had my 3D fun. However, as my machine is a bit old and wine doesn't like it, I decided to revert back to normal, nothing special mode. (I did this using metacity --replace and clicking "normal" in appearence--I have no clue if I disabled it right).

However, my monitor now refuses to go to screensaver or sleep. With screensavers, it starts to fade, and then goes back to normal. Before I messed with Compiz, everything was working perfectly.

Ideas?

If you are sure you won't be running compiz, try removing it and it's config files.

What's the proper way of doing that?

Nevermind, fixed itself...somehow. Maybe it just needed a reboot. Thanks!
