Hi, I am using a standalone computer at home. Do i need to have to insert a password everytime I want to use something like pacage manager. I read another thread telling that was how Linux was so secure. But if it's only myself who uses this computer, do i really need it?

okay, thank you. that's good enough for me, unless someone wants to argue the point :)
To tell the truth, it was a bit annoying at first, but you get used to it.

trust me its for the best, wonder why windows is so insecure?
because it enables root by default, it does not care what applicatiojns go into your computer as long as MS can force you to buy another license.
Yes it is annoying but passwords are needed.
