Hello there. I 'm dealing with 3 very annoying problems with ubuntu 8.10(32bit) on my new toshiba satellite laptop (amd athlon x2 64).

1. Gnome power manager not being able to display battery level (it always shows that ac adapter is on), except once that i did not do anything different from just booting my system and unexpectedly power manager did correctly work.

2. Sometimes, when i choose the shut down option, my laptop restarts, instead of shutting down.

3. Wifi internet..what's that?

I ve been using ubuntu for almost a month but these problems drive me crazy... Please help!!!

As a suggestion, you might get more responses by breaking up your problems into separate posts and giving a descriptive title for each post.

As to getting a restart instead of a shutdown, how are you selecting shutdown? Are you using an alt-key combination, clicking on the shutdown icon, or issuing the shutdown command from an x-term?

Are you connecting to a wireless router using built-in wireless? If so, you are using wi-fi internet.
