Hi, Can anyone help me?

I think i've solved this prob before just by editing some lines (which?) in the xorg.conf .

I've installed Ibex with a new graphics card ( GeForce FX 5500), but Ive lost the 1600X1200 res @75Hz for my Dell P1130 monitor. At the present my scrn is more or less stuck at 800X600 @ 60 Hz plugn play.

Thanks

Also, I don't know what to make of this line:

i assume that you are running 8.04 with the restricted drivers?

i have had problems with my ge-force fx5200 and the restrictd drivers.
i have tried changing monitors but that didnt work, and i couldnt force a resolution change.
I personally think that it is a compatibility issue with the card and the monitor.
My screen is now at 1024x768(monitor max) by uninstalling all packages that returned in a search for "nv" (NVidia drivers).

i hope that this works for you...

I've installed Ibex with a new graphics card

i wasnt able to get ibex to work on my machine.. :-(
xorg kept locking up and showing caps lock and scroll lock lights flashing i fixed it on my mates pc by removing all NV-... packages.
perhaps you should install NV-glx-177 if you dont have any NV packages installed to provide compatibility? (i think its NV-glx-177, its certainly a 1xx number with NV and glx somewhere in the name)

try this, it doesn't look too different but it should work.
the ee screen0 deleted should not appear if you use this config file.

Open the file up using nano:

% nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Use the arrow keys to move around in the file.
Type new stuff and/or backspace over what you don't want.
Hit Ctrl-X to exit.
It will ask you if you want to save, and you can just hit Y
It will ask you what file to write to, and you can just press Enter.

Then restart gdm:
% /etc/init.d/gdm restart
