Wow, looks like even more corporations are learning from other successful open source corporations. :)

Why do all companies seem to have a problem with free labor?

Now time to wait for NVidia to release their drivers as FOSS. :popcorn:

so what does this mean? all wireless cards that use atheros chipsets will now be open source instead of a restricted driver>

They license IP that isn't theirs, and as such cannot control what happens to their source.
Chances are making it OSS isn't worth the money they'd have to spend negotiating ways to get the IP holders to let the source go.

Does this mean that my Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi will actually work without the need to search on the internet for ways to get it working, or is this something else?

By the looks of things this is a HAL think, so while the wifi cards might work too I'm not really sure if it's going to affect them...
