View Full Version : [ubuntu] MKV file problems

I set up the MKV codec in the Totem Player and downloaded several MKV files. After they are downloaded,

Only the few files that has "Screenshot icons" are workable. The other files that have the ordinary film icons don't work.

Any problems?

They could be corrupted. How did you download them?

mkv are just containers for media files so maybe the files which were inside them were encoded with codecs which is not to ur system
try to install w32codecs from medibuntu repos
google for it

If you install ubuntu-restricted-extras there are a load more codecs installed as well.
