bluetooth in ubuntu hardy problem!!

I have a nokia 2600 phone, and would like to connect it via bluetooth to my laptop, but i am not sure if my laptop has build in bluetooth, i think it does, i followed a intruction guide and installed gnome-bluetooth an icon popped up in my icon bar. but my mobile can't find any devices.. help!! maybe i am being silly and i need to switch on my bluetooth but i do not know how.. my laptop model is: Dell vostro 1400. it came with vista, but i dual booted it with Ubuntu, which is the only operating system i am using now..
any help will be highly appreciated! thanks!

I am having the same problem.
I have a toshiba U400 pro dual boot and bluetooth works fine on xp but i cant manage to get it to wok in ubuntu.
I have Gnome bluetooth file sharing, but when i click on it nothing happens.
Can someone plaese help!!
