After installing 8.10 I remember installing smbfs and perhaps other packages relating to samba. In any event I could 1) view windows shares and 2) mount windows shares. A few days ago update manager asked whether I wanted to change to the samba version that is maintained by the package manager. I agreed to that. Since then I can't view windows shares althouh I can still mount windows shares. I've looked at synaptic and it says that the samba package is installed.

So I can access windows shares on the command line, but not browse them. What should I do now?
