View Full Version : [ubuntu] Wireless gone and never back again!

November 28th, 2008, 06:09 PM

This is the case:
I installed ubuntu, and after the installation I added a wireless card.

It booted up and it worked! The only thing was VERY VERY bad signal (router 4 meters away from card :S).

BUT THEN: The card jumped out of the PCI slot and the wireless network didn't work after that (maybe there where some motion made by someone...).

Now I have put the card back in a different slot, and the computer finds it... Linux finds it to but I cant find any networks any more... and it seems to be something weird with the settings for the card...

The BIG BIG problem is, I sold the computer today (actually a couple of days ago but he picked it up today. He asked me to install a wireless card before he picked it up.).

Is there anyway I can send him some short instructions on how to get you information??
He is not really an expert...

Thanks for all the help so far. Best regards Fredrik Eliasson
