Hello guys. I have just received Ubuntu 8.10 disk requested from ubuntu.com. I install it 1st time using Wubi. After I logged on for few minutes, Ubuntu stopped working, everything stopped, and I couldn't do a thing. I think it's because of Wubi, so I tried 2nd time, install it on my hard disk. But the same thing happened again. It drove my crazy because I didn't know how to cure this status. I used ubuntu 8.04 before, but this problem has never happened before.

By the way, I want to ask, is there any way to improve download speed in ubuntu? The problem might be in the internet connection, but I am using Windows with ubuntu, and using IDM it downloads very fast. Any suggestions?

Did you all try ubuntu with no desktop effects, search the forum, it has been an issue with some instalations.
