I have installed Intrepid using wubi and noticed the Fonts are not as pleasing as vista.
I have msttcorefonts installed, I have tried changing the settings in smoothing, hinting and rendering. Certain settings are suitable for some web sites but there is no uniformity. But in vista I do not need to change any settings. I have also noticed that many ubuntu users do not moan about this and are quite pleased with it but I would like to emphasise that Ubuntu has a long way to go to match Vista's quality and I would like to see Ubuntu beats Vista hands down.
I have to admit that I am not sure whether this is solely dependant on Ubuntu or the browser(in my case FF3). I am using the browser FF3 in Vista and Ubuntu and I could see the difference quite clearly. Opera works fine in Vista but in Ubuntu Opera fonts are horrible and I have stopped using it.
I hope someone will take note of this and find a remedy for this.
I would like to hear from you all. Thank you.
