I've been searching and working on this for hours now, so I figured it was time to ask for help. I have a HP Compaq 6910p new from HP that I am trying to install 8.10 using the alternate installer so that I can have an encrypted hard drive.

I get the initial screen and select install, then the screen does a couple of things and then goes black and becomes non-responsive. I have tried done the following to troubleshoot:

1. The CDs md5 matches the one from the website I downloaded from
2. Tried different CD media at different burn speeds
3. Tried a known good 8.04 alternate CD
4. Created a USB install
5. Tried nolapci acpi="Off"

All of the above resulted in the same situation, a hanging blank screen after selecting "Install Ubuntu"

The interesting thing is that my 8.04 live cd works fine and I was able to install 8.04 from it. However, I need the encrypted hard drive, so I will need to get the alternate CD to work.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
