[SOLVED] Nautilus problem

im running intrepid and for my actual user, the sidebar of nautilus has disappeared. i cannot open tabs and whenever i navigate to another folder, it opens another window. any ideas as to what i messed up? running nautilus under root doesnt have any of the problems as the pictures below show

It looks as if you switched to spatial mode from browser mode.

Go to Edit > Preferences and select to always open windows in browser mode.

perfect that was the exact problem i was looking for. i had asked on the irc channels and got a bunch of commands and other navigation menus to dig through. it was staring me in the face the whole time
