well im looking for a great cad, ubuntu its just too good, cad companies may put more attention on open source im sure in a near future we will have a great software of this category, i know that pro engineer 3 and nx 5 are available for linux but always a step behind in cad software if anyone knows how to get and install a recent release of one of those software please let me know. thanks

NX 6 is available under Linux. But only 64bit systems are supported. (I read that in some official NX6 documentation) However I found this link of a torrent. I Haven't downloaded it nor tried to install it. Just check it.

Sorry, the torrent doesn't work, When you start downloading the file, you download something like "Mandriva MLO" instead of NX 6.

You should try to contact SIEMENS PLM in order to get NX 6 for Linux.

Meanwhile you can try VariCAD. http://www.varicad.com (http://www.varicad.com/) Its meant to be a powerful, cross-platform and affordable 3D/2D CAD system for mechanical engineering. You can download the 30 day trial for 32 or 64 bit Linux in .deb .rpm or tarball. It's the sowftware I use for CAD.

This is the official NX 6 Brochure. In page 3 you can read that its totally cross-platform, it says it can run under UNIX/Linux.
So, if you want to purchase it (No idea of price, but it looks expensive) just contact (http://www.plm.automation.siemens.com/en_us/about_us/contact/request_information.cfm)Siemens PLM Software.

I just started using NX6 and found the http://www.nxtutorials.com (http://www.nxtutorials.com/) website to have many interesting articles, tutorials, and models. I hope you find it helpful also!
