easy question here...

what is the best application for using/managing my ipod on ubuntu?

right now i am using rythmbox but my question is are there other apps that are more intuitive/slicker then rythmbox?

also, is there any app that will let me manage purchases at itunes?

Well, the program that is going to allow you to manage all facets of your ipod is gtkpod. I personally use Amarok for managing all music on my ipod. To my knowledge, you can only use itunes to manage purchases from itunes that have DRM. If they are DRM free, you can use whatever you want.
