Apologies if this is a repeat. I'm not a complete noob, but I do have trouble forming search terms that'll dig up threads on the same issues. In this case, most people refer to Fn as function, and not the F1-F12 keys.
I have a T60 Thinkpad that had 8.04 installed on it. When I upgraded to 8.10, I've been unable to get the F1, F2, etc. buttons working. So whereas before I could do things like Alt+F4 and F5 no problem with my external keyboard, now nothing happens.
When I looked into this in System -> Preferences -> Keyboard Shortcuts, I saw that Close Window (as an example) is still mapped to Alt+F4. However, when I tried to reenter that by clicking on the row, it took in Alt+F4 as XF86New. I've confirmed that if I try to enter just F4 on its own, XF86New still shows up. The Alt key still works, as I can use Alt+F to summon file menus on most programs.
FWIW, the keyboard is a Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard 1.0A.
Has anyone run into this?
