Hello! I'm looking to add an account for my mother, who has macular degeneration. She only has peripheral vision, and that's not so good. She's also not that computer literate, since she went blind about the time I finally got reasonably skilled with these cantankerous things, and with Linux. Now, she's retired, and would like to learn more. but the blindness is an issue.
What programs are easy to use and set up for a blind person with little computer experience? I have a fairly new emachine- it's only about a year old. I have only one account on my machine-I use the LXDE desktop- but I could download and use whatever desktop she wants or what would work with any blind-users software,right? I just need to set up her account, not mine, with whatever software she needs? I'm using Intrepid Ibex.
Mom wants to primarily check her bank accounts,credit cards, and read her grandkids email, as well as write just simple letters. The setup wouldn't need to be all that large for what little she wants to do.
Any help setting this up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!:KS
