hi people
first time poster here and relative ubuntu newbie so bear with me
i have performed a couple of successful installs of intrepid on various laptops but seem to be stumped by this latest one
using the i386 live CD the laptop boots ok when i start the install it goes through the preliminary steps and beings the process it then hangs at about 27% copying files
one thing i noticed, and i may be onto something here, is that the install is try to install to SCSI device (sda) instead of an IDE device (hda). and i know from a play using linux mint that it should be using IDE bus instead of SCSI
so my questions are these
1. am i right?
2. what can i do to get round this??
if i can ask you guys keep the responses idiot proof enough
and thanks in advance
oh forgot to include the laptop in questions is a fujitsu-siemens amilo d 1845
P4m 3.66Ghz
1GB RAM
mobility radeon 9700
80GB HDD
SIS chipset (not sure which one off hand)
