Hello all,

I want to install Ubuntu on my friends Panasonic CF-47 Laptop.

The biggest problem I'm having is that the laptop will not boot from the CD. I tried to hold "c", but that has no effect. I went into setup and changed the boot device to include all the devices. The bios does NOT show the CD-drive, even though it comes up in windows and works great. The CDRW drive was installed third-party.

I have tried to install ubuntu and xubuntu using the bootloader, but the computers memory cant take it and crashes. I have tried using a ubuntu 8.10 usb startup drive and that did not work either. The computer will not boot up to the CD drive or USB drive. I have also used a program in windows that lets you create a bootable cd called unetbootin. no luck!

can someone please help me?

Does anyone have any ideas.

Run wubi from inside windows. See this (http://wubi-installer.org/) (especially the FAQ page).
