I'm trying to install Ubuntu on a Dell Latitude D600 laptop where Windows XP has crashed (I'm not sure why, as I wasn't involved in the crash). It loads the live environment fine, but when I try to run the installer, at step 3 (the keyboard layout step), when I hit "forward," it pops up a quick little thing about partitioning, which soon disappears on its own, and then.... nothing. I just get the busy circle indefinitely, with nothing happening. The CD drive, the hard drive and the processor all seem to just be doing nothing. Help!
