Hello everybody,
I’m a new member to the forums, and linux itself. My friend has been telling me about linux for a little while, while we were at school, so I finally gave in. (2 years later lol)

So I went to download ‘Linux ubuntu 7.10 – Gusty Gibbon’ from the site, I had some problems with burning the .iso file, with multiple programs, it never worked.
So I looked for a torrent on isohunt.com, and I found the ‘LiveCD’ .iso file, it seemed to have all the updates and what not. So anyway my problem is as follows.

I burn the .iso onto a DVD, it works fine. I reboot my PC and I load from the DVD. I get the first screen to pick what I wish to do.
I pick ‘Start liveCD/install’
Then the loading splash screen comes up, after about 4-5mins the next black screen loads, at this point 4 lines of text appear and it just stalls.

- Below I have pictures of every move I had done.

Loaded the boot disc

They are linked pictures because I didn’t have time to resize, sorry.

Added info:
I know that the DVD works, I ran the check on the option screen, it checked out. Also it works on my old IBM T43 laptop.

Any help would be very much welcome, Thank you all in advance for reading and taking the time to help me out :)

Did you download the DVD version or the CD version but burnt it to a DVD?

Its an .iso from a DVD, its 4gig+ in size.

I made two copys and both checked out fine.

At this point, can you press Ctrl+Alt+F8 (This is a diagnostic terminal), and see what the last lines say?

You can also try Ctrl+Alt+F7 and F9 (GUI terminals); if you get a blank screen, then the GUI has not loaded.

Do you get a login prompt on Ctrl+Alt+F2 (Virtual terminal, text mode)?

Hey man, I'm sorry I hadn'tt gotten back to you. lots of things have been happening at home...

I hadn't been able to give your advice a try.
I installed Linux Ubuntu 7.10 on my laptop. it working great, Although I really not sure how to use it. I've been a windows boy ever since I've had a computer.. lol.

Although I have a new problem on my gaming rig, that came out of nowhere, and I'm really getting mad at it ><

I hate computers :(
But once I fix the problem on my gaming rig, I'd love to give ubuntu 8.10 a go once the CD I ordered gets to me. (I've had problems downloading it lol)
I'm full of problems :(

Thanks again for the adice, once I'm good to go, I'll give it another shot!:)
