Hello.

when booting from the 8.10 install CD, im getting the following error (excerpt from dmesg)

[ 1.720315] uvesafb: failed to execute /sbin/v86d
[ 1.720386] uvesafb: make sure that the v86d helper is installed and executable
[ 1.720446] uvesafb: Getting VBE info block failed (eax=0x4f00, err=-2)
[ 1.720503] uvesafb: vbe_init() failed with -22
[ 1.720558] uvesafb: probe of uvesafb.0 failed with error -22

i understand its a missing driver (see bug reports here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/246269 and here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/274346).

during the boot process the pc speaker starts making a constant beep and this never ends (continues into the desktop session and only shuts up after i shut the computer down.

my question is, should i continue with the installation ?
is it possible to fix this issue after i install ubuntu ? (and if so, how ?)

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
