On the Ubuntu 8.10, the USB creation thing, does it simply creates the equivalent of an install CD on a USB or does it create a usable/updatable persistent Ubuntu on a USB ?

Boot is possible, I tried copying the iso on the key and it worked.
You may also execute an installation CD and install on the flash drive. This will make a normal installation.
It haves also some workaround, copying the iso and edit some files to make it persistent.

Make some searchon google. It should not be difficult.

Why not do it the easy way with the USB installer that's in the menu?
