Is there a way to do a side-by-side installation of the KDE & Gnome desktop environments without adding another partition to my hard drive? I want to be able to choose between KDE & Gnome at boot.

is it really that difficult to just select a new session before logging in?

Basically just install

kubuntu-desktopand log out, select a different session and choose KDE instead of Gnome.

Look at this link from the links in my sig:

You don't have to partition, just install another desktop environment.

I also use Fluxbox along with Gnome and just do the switch at the log in screen.

Hmm, forgot that option is supposed to be there. I don't have the ability to select on my login. All my login screen shows is the username/password box.

sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop is the code you want to install kde. select options and then sessions to select kde.

I don't have the "options" button. It looks like my login screen cuts off the bottom where all of the options are. The username/password box looks shifted to the bottom=right a little bit.

I don't know what is wrong with my gnome login screen, but I switched to KDM and am able to launch KDE now.
Thanks for the help.
