Upgraded my wife's PC from Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.10 and now the PC's Name has changed?
PC's Name was "linda-1525", it is now "dell-desktop".

When I tried to changed it back, a warning message appeared:

"The Host name has changed.
This will prevent you from launching new applications, and so you will have to log in again. Continue?"

Before I screw anything up, can someone explain what this warning means?

Look in /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname to make sure the name of your machine matches.

cat /etc/hosts
cat /etc/hostname

Look in /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname to make sure the name of your machine matches.

/etc/hosts
/etc/hostname

Both show dell-desktop.

Can you explain the warning:
"The Host name has changed.
This will prevent you from launching new applications, and so you will have to log in again. Continue?"
