Hey,
I'm planning to install Windows 2000 alongside Kubuntu. Will this overwrite GRUB? If it will, how would I be able to recover it and boot into Kubuntu as well as Windows 2000?

Thanks for any suggestions. :)

Yep, it will overwrite grub.

You can reinstall grub by booting the live cd and reinstalling grub.

Unfortunately, my system doesn't have enough RAM to run the LiveCD. Is there another way to recover GRUB? Thanks.

i don't think you need grub to work otherwise you cant use windows 2000. anyway you should be able to access kubuntu from the boot menu. irecomend you get all your impotrant data before doing this.

If I don't use GRUB, how do I boot into Kubuntu? I don't think Windows 2000 plays nice with Linux.

you can set up grub from the alternate installer too but it's text based.

I'm not 100% sure how to do it, I guess you could run through the process but not format anything until you get to the grub bit

Would it be possible to tell Windows 2000 to NOT overwrite the MBR? This would make things a lot easier. Also, is it possible to setup Grub using Wubi? Thanks
