I am going to new computer very soon. So please recommend me a good latest configuration, for running all types of linux distros smoothly.

if you stick to well-known builders (dell, hp, compaq, etc.) you should be fine. they all use the same parts. the only thing i would recommend is that if you're going to get a video card, get ati. the reason i say this is because 8.10 has the ati drivers on the livecd, so it's super easy to get video working with ati.

It all depends on how you use your computer. If your going to use it for gaming, you'll need a better system then if you just browse the web.

Anyway, if you just want to run Linux distros, I'd take a AMD Athlon X2 running somewhere between 2200-2800 MHz, since they are pretty cheap. Get 1 or 2 gig of RAM and cheap video card.

I assume your not going to use it for gaming.

nVidia GeForce 6xxx series or 7xxx series, I'd recommend a minimum of 128 MB.

Nvidia has better linux drivers than ATI. So i would go for that.
