I am using Vodafone Mobile Broadband with the Huawei E172 USB stick and the vodafone-mobile-connect-card-driver-for-linux software, version 2.0.beta3.
This has a number of problems and hasn't been updated in a while which makes me wonder whether the software is supported. I don't know if anyone can comment on that.

The first problem I would like to solve is the need to be a superuser to make a connexion. The command

vodafone-mobile-connect-card-driver-for-linux doesn't work; you have to use sudo.

This means that my wife cannot connect from her login. Since the computer is a dual boot MAC OSX/Ubuntu Hardy Heron, this in turn means that normally the computer is booted into the MAC OS so that she can use the internet:cry:

How can I run the software as a non-priviliged user?
