View Full Version : [ubuntu] NetworkManager 0.7 crashes Intrepid 8.10 with phone as USB modem

Imagine my glee when I plugged in my Nokia E65 via USB to my Ubuntu 8.10 (Dell xps m1330) laptop and Networkmanager "identified" my device. After following the set-up wizard, choosing my Phone/data operator (Three - Australia) my connection showed up on the list of available networks. When I click on it, the whole system freezes, the only way out is a hard reboot.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I found this bug report (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/279287) which seems like a similar problem.

Any help (even just an idea about how to get more information) would be really appreciated.

Double bump.

I installed Blueman, by following the instructions on this blog (http://tanere.blogspot.com/2008/11/mobile-broadband-over-bluetooth-on.html) which I found on this forum post (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=968003&page=2). I have successfully bound my mobile over bluetooth, and installed the network, but when I try to connect I get a password prompt - I do not have a password on my mobile account (as far as I know - and the username/password fields on my Access point definitions are empty). I do have a PIN, but entering that doesn't work.

At least my system doesn't crash - but can anyone help? It feels like I'm very close . . .
