I have SSH installed on my home computer, I would like to access it from my university. Unfortunately, I can't login to the physical computer back home, only have someone there turn it on (I would very much not like to diverge the password for my personal login to family members). Is there a way for me to connect?

Yes, it can be done - I found this (http://www.debian.org/devel/passwordlessssh) article on passwordless SSH... but it (obviously) can't be configured remotely. First would be setting up port-forwarding from (home) router to your (home) machine. Here's (http://https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SSH_VPN) a good article on VPN.
