Hello all,

I am a complete noob and decided to dive into the world of Linux with the Ubuntu distro.

I love the speed and design of it but I am having some major issues with it.

The issue is related to dragging someone on the desktop and the UI freezes. For instance, I have tried dragging a folder on the desktop and then the UI freezes; forcing a hard reboot. I have tried dragging a toolbar in Firefox and the UI freezes; forcing a hard reboot. I have tried moving files within a folder and the UI freezes; forcing a hard reboot.

Now, as I said, I would love to get Ubuntu working properly but if this keeps happening, I am going to be forced to use Windows again :(

I would love some input if anyone has an idea what is going on.

What's the spec of your machine? Do you have compiz (that visual effect thing) running? Which release are you using?
