I am not sure if this is the right place but here goes. I am a very recent convert to Ubuntu and everything is going great at the moment. The only programme I was previously using that I have not managed to find a replacement for is "OneNote". Is there something similar for use on Ubuntu?

Thanks in anticipation of your suggestions.

Hi there, welcome to the open-source community :)

There is a program called "Tomboy Notes" - this is located in "Applications> Accessories> Tomboy Nptes"

Ive not used OneNote but I believe this is the same type of program you are looking for.

Let me know how you get on, and if your need any more help :)

Try Basket. It is in the repos but the website will give you an idea what it is like.

I don't think we have anything as fully featured as OneNote yet, try Freemind as well.

I think NoteCase (apt://notecase) is a pretty good notes manager :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the look of basket but it is KDE and I am using Gnome. Will I encounter problems trying to run a KDE application in Gnome?

No, besides the fact that it won't look good.

I'm probably late, but google notebook isn't bad, if you don't mind using google products. http://www.google.com/notebook

There's a firefox extension too.

I like zim.

>sudo apt-get install zim

A little more work for installation but you can run Tracks as your own personal notes/todo list server:

Evernote works fine under wine. You will have little interface problems but probably it is the best free note taking application out there. It also can index images which means you can search text in them.
