From Ubuntu Forums Code of Conduct (http://ubuntuforums.org/index.php?page=policy)

While we are happy to serve as a resource for hints and for asking questions when you get stuck and need a little help, the Ubuntu Forums should not be thought of as a homework service. Please do not post your homework assignments expecting someone else to do it for you. Any such threads will be taken offline and warnings or infractions may be issued.

So try it yourself first, and if you are totally stuck on a small minor issue maybe people can help you out, but this isn't supposed to be a HW service.

You will get plenty of help, if you can be a bit more specific as to what the assignments' aim is and how you envisage ubuntu to fit into the assignment. As in do you need the history of linux in general or only ubuntu specifically or what other type of information do you need? But don't expect us to write it for you. Do research ask for clarification when unsure of something.

http://www.playdeb.net/available_games.html
http://linux.about.com/od/ubuntu_doc/a/ubuntu_games.htm
Those sites may help. Also there is a difference between installing native linux games and 'windows platform' games that may work via wine.

Good luck.

Because these forums are as much a part of Ubuntu as the liveCD itself is, I would have to say kudos for using the forums (if I were your prof you'd get bonus points :) )

That said, heres some tips for a great how to:

screenshots of all install screens with apropriate selections highlighted or made obvious.
Use The Gimp to edit your screen shots, not quite as nice as photoshoppe but its linux/ubuntu native and is even available on the liveCD
Be direct, specific, and as friendly as you can be in the wording of your tutorials text.
Decide whether you will be tackling an open source linux native game like Sauerbraten (http://sauerbraten.org/) or Planeshift (http://www.planeshift.it/) (is the game available in our package manager?); or, a commercial Linux native game like Quake Wars Enemy Territory (http://www.enemyterritory.com/) or Unreal Tournament 2004 (http://www.unrealtournament2003.com/) (don't forget the UT2k4 patch); or running a Microsoft Windows Platform game like World of Warcraft (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/index.xml) under Ubuntu using either Wine (http://www.winehq.org/), Cedega (http://www.cedega.com/), or Crossover Games (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/) ; or the possability of dual boot scenarios for gaming.

The order that I listed in is not necessarily correct, hence bullets instead of a numbered list, but you get the picture; be sure to drop your final tutorial in our tips and tricks (http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=100)area of the forums! And in the spirit of the immortal EverQuest, Happy Hunting!

Let the games begin

Did your assignment go well? I gather the answer is yes. Hope you have learned a bit about ubuntu/linux and the helpful community here. Hope you continue using ubuntu - at least some of the time.
