View Full Version : [ubuntu] Trying to decide about memory upgrade size.

I currently have only 512 in my laptop. It will slow down when running a couple of programs plus ktorrent. Do realize it need to upgrade to more memory. Wondering if it will use the full 2gig if I get it or should I just upgrade to 1gig.
Guess I asking if anyone has gotten a good bost for the price of 2 gig.

If I were you, I would definitely upgrade to 2 gigs. Not only will it give your system a huge boost, you can also multi-task almost indefinitely. Go for 2 Gigs and feel the difference! :guitar:
PS. How are your RAM slots set up? ie. 4 slots, 3 empty, etc.

As a laptop it probably has only one free slot.
I agree that you should get as much as will fit. Buy as much as you are comfortable spending money on. Chances are that 2 gb is the limit for a laptop but you will never feel like "Oh gee, I have too much RAM."

It does have two slots and 2gigs is the maximum. I tell the OS is wonderful. Wish I was using it a long time ago.

echo the 2gig. You can never have enough ram! LOL
At the current prices on eBay, you should be able to get good stuff like Kingston at a reasonable price .. but you should also look into on line sites such as New Egg. Or better yet, Pricewatch.com and find the lowest prices on line.
