me dumb...but connection problems

Me being dumb....

Just installed 8.10 on a spare machine and have configured the network card with a static ip address. Can see and access shares across our windows network, but cant use firefox. Have checked the gateway and dns address and they are right, but dont seem to have an external connection.

Anything i'm missing?

Can you ping the gateway, and have you verified the address via ifconfig? I presume the address must be good if you can access network shares.
