Hi guys. I have really been looking forward to Kubuntu 8.10. I waited and waited and when I finally got it this morning and installed it, it just doesn't seem to have hope of ever updating, EVER!! I have tried most things suggested on previous posts but none works for me. I wanted to install Firefox, netbeans, compiz and other stuff but the add/remove software program just shows "No result for any of these searches". I tried the apt-get but it is not doing as intended. It fails to fetch the packages or to connect to the servers. It tells me I have to run apt-get, IMAGINE! The IP comfiguration is OK, i think as I am currently browsing with their Konqueror(I WANT Firefox!!). What next?? Before I moved to Kubuntu I was on Ubuntu Hardy and Synaptic didn't have SUCH issues!! Kindly help me out. I'm such a newbie!?!?! :)
I know there are many posts on the same, but none seems to help me!!. Thnkx for any help offered.

I think you need to enable the right software-sources in Ubuntu. I think it is under System. There you need to enable the right servers.

It sounds like it is still stuck on having the CD as a source.

The S/ware sources for kubuntu software downloadable from the net were all enabled, I enabled two for third party software(http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu intrepid partner and http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu intrepid partner (Source Code) but it still brings the unable to update thing. Any other way around it?
