I have a major problem when installing Ubuntu 8.10. At about 70% of the installation process, during the file copying, the x server crashes repeatedly, and stops the installation. A message even appears saying that the x server has been down 6 times in under 2 minutes, which means that "something bad is probably happening" and that the x server will wait two minutes before doing anything. At this point, I have to close my computer and the installation remains incomplete. I've tried starting a safe graphic mode session, but it doesn't work!
What went wrong? I've installed previous versions of ubuntu before, and I've never had this problem!
