View Full Version : [ubuntu] Windows Install works, not CD Boot

Hi All,

I searched online and in forums but could not find the answer, so here is the question:

I downloaded Ubuntu 8.10, verified the checksum, and burnt the CD at the lowest speed on a good quality CD.

When I try to boot from the CD, the menu comes up. I select English and when I select install, it starts loading but then goes to the BusyBox prompt and nothing happens. This is also the case with trying to run it without installation.

However, I can install through windows just fine, but I don't want to do it that way.

HELP!

Thank you all in advance for the help, because I have noticed that you guys/girls are quick to respond and help.

Your specs are suspect. Memory? Graphics?
You might need the Alternate CD or a lighter Desktop like Xubuntu

Text based installer. Avoids possible hardware/graphics problems. Easy to use.
