hi all,

is it possible that someone connects to my pc and fixes my sound?
I seem to not quite get it working i tried all and every thread but no changes.
Details again:

Got an Acer Aspire 6920G with an ALC889 card.

All works but no sound!

thanks

Hi there,

I have an acer 9302 AWSMI with an ALC883 card. But for the sound instead of using ALC883 with oss mixer, I use HDA NVIDIA with alsa mixer.

I hope this helps.

There are a lot of great people on this forum, but I really think this is a bad idea.

Start a thread, have someone that's done it walk you through it.

Have you run through this:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting

If so what were the results?

and when you do, make sure to use a descriptive thread title that lays out your specific problem, not just an enigmatic phrase.

And if there's anything you don't understand don't be embarrassed to ask!

I remember asking, "what terminal"? And that was like 10 months ago! I think there's a very good chance we can get thru this!

That's good advice, but remember this is the nOOb forum!

I remember when I was so new I didn't know what to ask beyond "it doesn't work"! the kindness and understanding of others got me to the point where I love Ubuntu!

This is very true, which is why best practices of forum use are shared here. The first sentence in the post was very descriptive and concise and would have made a very good title. It would have quickly enabled anyone with the answer to reply to the thread. Being able to use the forums efficiently enable new users to shorten the learning curve and make the Ubuntu experience that much better. That's what we are here for in the forums, after all! :)
