Just a heads up to those who might find this useful, but there's an app out there that is pretty promising called Shrinkta (DVD Movie Backup). Once you have libdvdcss2 installed from the Medibuntu repositories, it acts like DVDShrink taking an encrypted DVD from your drive and shrinking it down to fit a DVD5 or DVD9 (your choice).

I've been trying it on some of my most troublesome DVD's and it's worked out fine so far. This along with the Handbrake SVN .deb make a good team to backup and convert your films natively without having to use Wine for DVDShrink and DVDDecrypter.

Handbrake SVN GUI deb: http://www.mirrors.ausmac.net/ftp/AudioVisual-SW/HandBrake/snapshot/ (works great on Intrepid, don't know about Hardy)
