Hi there folks

As I am totally new to the wonderfull world of Ubuntu I was wondering if anyone out there can help me?

I cannot install Ubuntu onto my laptop (an Advent 9315) when the CD boots up and I try selecting instal I get the Ubuntu logo with a bar running across the bottom that quickly freezes. I have left it running ovder an hour on the off chance that it was doing something but nothing.

I've checked the web and someone suggested turning off silent install so that I could see where it was frezing at which I did. It freezes at:

[ 3.064030] THERMAL LNXTHERM:01: REGISTERED AS THERMAL_ZONE0

I've looked on the web and this seems to be something about the fan so I'm none the wiser. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Try using the alternate CD instead of the Live CD http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#alternate
