View Full Version : [ubuntu] Canon scanner can't find the driver n need help...

I don't know too much about this computer and Ubuntu OS. So here goes one of my friends gave me a scanner the Canon CanoScan 8400F and I do not know what driver to download to get this bad boy working on my computer. I am running Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, I went to the Canon website and the OS that they have are all Windows 98, vista, XP, 2000, Vista (x64), XP (x64), ME and Mac OS X. should I choose one of those? put it on a disc and see if that works or what? can anyone help me out? thanks for reading.:confused:

I wish i could give you better news, but it appears that particular canon scanner is not supported in linux.

According to sane's website that model is currently unsupported:

depressing that i can not use the scanner... guess i am going to have to sell it. thank you for all your help....:(

yeh cannon has zero linux support.
Go Hewlett packard, they make linux compatible stuff.
