Hello, my laptop has an nvidia card, it is a 3d card, it is compatible, it is listed in the restricted drivers with the not used red dot, I tried once to load it when I first loaded Ubuntu, and the screen went a small technicolor screen almost looked plaid after it tried to boot. I reloaded Ubuntu and never tried it again, but I want to play some 3d games and use 3d programs. If I load the drivers and this happens, how do I change back to my original setting? Is there a boot command to change back or use the live cd to change back I am running 7.10 Gutsy.

Thanks

Try using envy to do the driver installation for you.

sudo apt-get install envyng-gtk

you may try to use Envy rather than the restricted driver manager. Just out of curiosity, why are you still using 7.10 rather than hardy or intrepid. Much progress has been made since then. Also, what card do you have?

I did not know there was a difference, besides that is what I installed and am comfortable with, and it is an nvidia mobile 32 mb card.
