Is there such a utility for Linux?

I.e. I have a two columns list with words. 1st column the word as typed, 2nd column how it should be replaced. I.e. I type fum and I want it to be replaced by furthermore.

I am looking for something that resembles this utility (for Windows) http://www.asutype.com/

Do you mean something for the command line, or do you mean something within a word processor? If you're using Open Office, you can use their autocorrect feature. I don't know of anything for the command line or, say, for Kate, etc.

Thank you guys. I will try autokey.

What I need is not an OpenOffice functionality; but multilingual expansion/replacement functionality on any application of the OS.
