When i attempt to boot a live disk in my shuttle, it loads completely, and then the screen goes totally blank,

Is it a video driver problem?

What can i do to be able to see?

Try the Alternate CD
Did you do md5sum on your iso?

And that includes what you were saying about these two things?

Try the Alternate CD
Did you do md5sum on your iso?

I installed successfully using the text based installer,

but on startup, i've got no video.

What's happening?

See if you can get into Recovery Mode or get a command line:
Ctrl+Alt+F1 (F2,F3,F4,F5,F6)
Then try 'xfix' as root.
