View Full Version : [ubuntu] booting after installation

I have installed Ubuntu on my Dell computer and while the disk is in the drive, everything runs OK. However, once I remove the disk, it will not boot from the hard drive. Have I forgotten some step?

Did you actually install the O/S to the hard drive or are you still running the O/S from the CD ?

You MUST click on "INSTALL" once you get up to the Ubuntu desktop (the O/S is NOT installed to the hard drive simply by choosing "INSTALL" from the initial Ubuntu boot screen).

have you changed the boot sequence in the bios to boot from the hd:confused:

Yes, well. That makes sense. Communication problem. I thought I had already installed it.

Never mind, all good now. Going like a steam tram.:)
