Any ($)buntu variant 8.04 and above does not produce graphics on install. I have installed Ubuntu 8.04, 8.10, Kubuntu 8.04, and Xubuntu 8.04 on a box with AMD 64x2 - 4400, SyncMaster940BW, and and NVidia 6150SE graphics card. The Live install is flawless. However, once the CD is out of the drive and I boot up there are display problems. I boot up and a fading red to black screen is presented to me and then goes completely black. I can hear the Ubuntu login sound, but no graphics. I have gone to safe mode and installed nvidia-glx, but no go. I am running Xubuntu 7.10 currently with a LAMP install.

Any variant over 7.10 manifests these display errors. What apt-get suggestions or other can the forum Masters offer!
