View Full Version : [ubuntu] waking up computer

when i suspend ubuntu i have to restart machine to bring system back. is there a way like in windows to press a key or the mouse to wake up system without always using restart button?

have dell machine win xp pro sp3 dual boot with 8.04

By default it should bring your computer back by pushing the on button, but if it doesn't it may be a problem with your graphics drivers.

downloaded nvidia drivers when prompted to by ubuntu system. also have latest nvidia Geforce gx2 7950 drivers installed in windows. would like to be able to use keyboard or mouse to awaken computer

Unfortunately standby can be a finicky thing in Ubuntu. I can't think of anything!

I have had this problem on three seperate laptops using Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10. Was not present on the 7 series, but has been a total pain lately.

I have hunted high and low and tried numerous fixes, all to no avail. TBH I am not overly bothered, I was more concerned when I could not shutdown at all, but that was to do with wireless drivers.
